11. Collage and Mixed Media Assemblage
In each collage class, we focus on different aspects of treating the collage support as well as techniques, such as embossing, which can enhance the collage itself.  We progress from 2D to 3D collage, with all kinds of mixed media materials involved.

12. Ethiopian Books
The Ethiopian Book has wooden covers like the Coptic structure but is a bit different in the orientation of the holes and sewing pattern.  One way of decorating this book afterward is to do a little woodburning  and a couple of tips for doing this are covered in this class.

13.   Fabric Books - A Textile Lover’s Delight.
Books with Fabric Inserts and Fabric Covered Books
These two book structures are perfect for using your cherished fabric scraps or cj’s fabrics from Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Laos, and other countries around the world to make distinctive and unique books.  One structure is totally covered with fabric and the other has unusual fabric inserts as decoration.  Both make beautiful gifts.

14. Fifteen Books from Single Sheets of Paper
In this fun, fast-paced workshop you will make 15 different books out of single sheets of paper to take home as models.  From the simple to the complex, you will leave with plenty of new ideas to make books, unusual brochures, invitations or promo.

15. Flexagons
Flexagons are structures that have hidden pages.  They may look flat as though there were only two pages, but each has secret pages that are revealed when the structure is manipulated.
The Flexagon Book Structure is an ingenious variation on the flexagon because it adds little hidden books inside.  These can be small pamphlets or post-it notes.

16. Four books 4” Square
Four substantial books that are just a small 4” by 4” will be created including a wraparound accordion with a button closure, a Japanese stab binding, a buttonhole stitch book and a flexagon.  You can reproduce them at home in any size.

17. Halloween Books
Make books that include a skull, a wheel, sliders and a pop-up – and one that is bound with real bone (elk bone, that is).  Keep them yourself or treat your kids.

18. Jewelry Books
Combine two wonderful elements – books and jewelry.  We will make a small book and decorate it with beads, charms and bits of other metal things.  There will be several items to choose from, but you can also bring your old earrings, bracelets or necklaces if you have them, and we will combine them all together to make your book a really terrific one.

19. Leather Covered Book
Make your own leather journal instead of buying one in a store.  This journal can be used for writing or sketching as it opens quite easily.  There are many optional closures and you can choose the one you want to use.

20.  Matchbox Books
Matchboxes are delightful for containing miniature books.  We will not only make four kinds of matchbox books, but we’ll learn to make the matchbox itself.  We will also take four matchboxes and attach them together with a decorated paper cover and fancy ribbons.  It’s a great conversation piece.
